Beamote

Is Beamote legit, or another scam remote app?

Updated 2026-10-19

Short answer: it's a real app from a registered company, and you can check that it works with your projector before paying anything. The longer answer is below, along with how to spot the remote apps that won't work.

Why people ask

Type "XGIMI remote" into Google Play and you'll see six or more apps called "XGIMI Projector Remote" or "XGIMI Projector Remote Control", from different developers. In October 2026 we read the listings of the top results. None of them named a projector model they had tested. None explained how they connect. Every one we checked was marked "Contains ads", and the descriptions were mostly the words "XGIMI remote app" repeated in different orders.

We can't say for sure that none of them works. But if you've installed one and got nothing but ads, that's why we wrote this page.

Things you can check about us

1. You can try it for free first

Beamote works fully for 7 days after you install it. No card, no sign-up. If it can't find or control your projector in that time, delete it and you've lost nothing. We only ask for money once you know it works for you.

2. Who makes it

Beamote is made by PRIVE COMPANY (프리베컴퍼니), a business registered in South Korea, registration number 719-07-03473. You can verify a Korean business number on the National Tax Service's business status lookup (홈택스 사업자등록 상태조회). Payments are processed by Google Play under the name "Google*PRIVE COMPANY".

3. We tested it on a real projector

Development and testing happen on our own XGIMI RS 10 Ultra 典藏版, a China-market unit running GMUI 6.6. That's the model we can vouch for. Everything else is labelled "should work", "beta" or "not yet" on the model page, and it stays that way until we or a user confirm it.

4. No ads, no data

The app has no ads, no analytics SDK, no login and no server. It talks to your projector on your own network and to Google Play for the subscription. That's all. The permissions it asks for are network access, Bluetooth (only to send the power-on signal) and vibration. No location, no contacts. Read the privacy policy.

5. A person answers email

Write to admin@parentsguard.org. If your model doesn't work, the app can send a diagnostics report (you see it before it's sent, MAC addresses are masked) and we use it to add support.

6. Refunds

Purchases go through Google Play, so Google's refund rules apply: you can request a refund from your Google Play order history, and requests within 48 hours are usually handled automatically. After that, email us.

How to spot a remote app that won't work

  • No model names. A working app knows which projectors it was tested on. "Works with all XGIMI projectors" is a guess.
  • No word on how it connects. Most XGIMI projectors use a Bluetooth remote, not infrared. An app that only sends infrared usually can't control them. A real app says whether it uses Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or IR.
  • Ads before anything works. If you see a full-screen ad before the app has even found your projector, the ads are the product.
  • A description that's mostly keywords. "Best XGIMI remote app for XGIMI projector remote control" says nothing.
  • Odd permissions. A remote needs network access, and Bluetooth for power-on. It doesn't need your contacts or location history.

What Beamote can't do (yet)

  • It can't wake a projector from full power-off over Wi-Fi. Supported models can be switched on over Bluetooth; others need the power button.
  • Android TV / Google TV models are in beta. Google's own remote also works on those, for free.
  • XGIMI OS models aren't supported yet.
  • No iPhone version yet.

Beamote is independent and not made by XGIMI. "XGIMI" is used only to say which projectors it works with.
