Projector not found? Connection checklist
Beamote (and any other network remote) can only control a projector it can reach on your local network. Go through these in order. The first three fix most problems.
1. The projector is really on
An XGIMI projector that is off or in standby closes its network ports, so no app can see it. Turn it on with its own remote or the power button and wait until the home screen appears, then tap Search again.
On supported models Beamote can switch the projector on over Bluetooth: keep Bluetooth on and stay near the projector.
2. Same Wi-Fi network
Phone and projector must be on the same network. Watch out for:
- a guest network or a second band with a different name (e.g. "Home" vs "Home_5G" on some routers),
- a Wi-Fi extender / mesh that puts devices on a separate subnet,
- the phone silently falling back to mobile data.
3. VPN or ad blocker on the phone
A VPN, private DNS ad blocker or "secure Wi-Fi" feature can hide devices on your home network. Turn it off for a moment and search again.
4. Router "AP isolation"
Some routers, and most office, hotel and dorm networks, block devices from talking to each other ("AP isolation" or "client isolation"). Turn it off in the router settings, or use a phone hotspot that both devices join.
5. Try the IP address
On the projector, open Settings → Network to see its IP address (for example 192.168.0.63). In Beamote, tap Enter IP. If that works but search doesn't, your network blocks discovery, but the saved IP will keep working.
6. Android TV / Google TV models: pairing
Global XGIMI models with Android TV or Google TV need a one-time pairing: tap Connect, and type the 6-character code shown on the projector. If the code doesn't appear, open the projector's Google TV / Android TV settings and make sure remote control from phones is allowed. (Beta.)
